The New Guard is the central memorial to the victims of war and tyranny. It is located in the Berlin district of Mitte on Unter den Linden. The result was the building as the main and royal guard for the opposite Palais Royal. After the almost complete destruction during the Second World War, the building was inaugurated in 1960 after new three-year reconstruction work as a memorial to the victims of fascism and militarism.
