Die kubanische Neubausiedlung Alamar war einst als Symbol sozialistischen Lebens geplant worden und ist seit Mitte der 60er Jahre mit sowjetischer Hilfe am Rande Ost-Havannas errichtet worden. Gemeinsam bauten Arbeitsbrigaden aus jungen Architekten, Bauarbeitern und künftigen Bewohnern die Plattenbausiedlungen ganz im sozialistischen Sinne.
